Heat advisory in effect for multiple Central Coast counties

It’s the official first day of summer and temperatures are rising around the Central Coast.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the inland areas of Monterey County, San Benito County, Santa Clara County and the Santa Cruz Mountains.

The heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

“A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. Hot temperatures will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air- conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors,” the NWS said.

According to the NWS, temperatures will generally be 15 to 20 degrees above normal on Saturday.

Pinnacles National Park is expected to be one of the hottest inland locations.

KION’s Chief Meteorologist Dann Cianca will have the full forecast at 5 and 6 p.m.
