Scotts Valley K-9 busts man with drugs, guns & cash

A Watsonville man was taken into custody after a K-9 with the Scotts Valley Police Department alerted officers that the man was in possession of drugs.

According to Scotts Valley Police, officers pulled over Samuel Morrelli for a moving violation Thursday night.

“Officers noted the driver was acting very nervously and therefore, elected to deploy Atlas to conduct a sniff of the vehicle,” said SVPD.

K-9 Atlas alerted officers of a controlled substance in the car.

Officers found a loaded sawed off shot gun with a serial number removed, a loaded dart gun, more than 5 ounces of marijuana, various packages of cocaine, multiple narcotic prescription pills, a large sum of cash as well as paraphernalia and documentation associated with the sale of controlled substances inside Morrelli’s car.

Morrelli was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
