Also playing is PGA runner-up Will Zalatoris. … Scottie Scheffler, No. 1 in the world and the FedEx Cup leader, is coming off a missed cut at the PGA and is playing for the third straight week. … Bryson DeChambeau withdrew on Tuesday. He was at Southern Hills last week until withdrawing on Wednesday. He is recovering from surgery on his left hand. … CBS has an abbreviated window for Saturday’s round because it is broadcasting the Champions League final that day. Golf Channel will pick up the bulk of the coverage. … Colonial, like Southern Hills, is a Perry Maxwell design that will be using Gil Hanse for a renovation sometime next year.

The Senior PGA and the Senior British are the two majors he has not won. … Steven Alker, runner-up in the Traditions, is playing his second major. … Jock Hutchison and Fred McLeod won the first two editions of the Senior PGA when it was held at Augusta National. They later became the first honorary starters at the Masters. … The last two Senior PGA champions at Benton Harbor won at 19-under 265.

That includes Thomas Pieters, who at No. 36 is the lone player from the top 50 in the world ranking. … Also at the PGA was Bernd Wiesberger, the lone Ryder Cup player from Team Europe in 2021 who is playing this week. … This is the second straight year for the Dutch Open to be held at Bernardus Golf. It is the 13th course to host the Dutch Open. The most frequent stop was Hilversumsche Golf Club, which hosted the tournament 23 times, most recently in 2012.
