Salinas Police arrest convicted felon in Chinatown

A convicted felon was arrested in the Salinas Chinatown neighborhood after being found with a gun, drugs and cash.

According to Salinas Police, officers searched 43-year-old Maurice Ellis’ car. They found a semi-automatic handgun, over 15 grams of heroin, 126 grams of marijuana, 33 prescription pills, packaging material and over $3,000 in cash.

Salinas Police, VSU, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, HSI and ATF worked together on the arrest.

Ellis was booked into jail charged with felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a high capacity magazine, possession of a controlled substance for sales and possession for marijuana for sales.
