Family sues promoter over death at Monterey County music festival

The family of a 20-year-old woman who died after attending a Monterey County music festival last year is suing the event’s promoter.

Associated Press reported Tuesday that the lawsuit alleges Baylee Gatlin didn’t receive proper medical attention for hours after she became ill from possible drug use at the Lightning in a Bottle festival at Lake San Antonio in May of 2017.

The lawsuit alleges the festival did not have qualified medical personnel on site and that Gatlin died of multi-organ failure, hyperthermia and dehydration.

The complaint lists the festival’s promoter, Do Lab, as the primary defendant. There was no immediate response from the company.

The suit also names a medical contractor.
