29-year-old Santa Cruz man ejected from car, dies in Aptos crash

A Santa Cruz man was killed in a car accident on Highway 1 in Aptos early Tuesday morning.

The driver, an 18-year-old Santa Cruz man was in a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban on southbound Highway 1, when he lost control and collided with a guardrail north of Mar Monte Avenue.

The accident occurred around 2:52 a.m.

A 29-year-old man in the passenger seat, was not wearing a seatbelt when the car crashed. He was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries.

CHP said no arrests were made and fatigue is alleged to have been a contributing factor.
