Watsonville man arrested after being found with drugs and guns

A Watsonville man was arrested after a routine traffic stop led the seizure of drugs and weapon.

The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Teams, Gang Task Force, with the assistance of the Watsonville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and a CHP K-9 Unit, served a narcotics search warrant in the 100 blk of Jefferson St in the City of Watsonville.

36-year-old Armando Murillo was seen leaving the home in a vehicle, when officers stopped him. During a search of the vehicle officers found approximately 10 grams of cocaine packaged for sales. At his Jefferson St residence, officers recovered approximately 6.5 grams of cocaine, also packaged for sales. Electronic scales and other evidence indicative of narcotic sales were also located at the residence. Officers also recovered a loaded large capacity magazines to an assault rifle.

Officers followed up the search at another of Murillo’s residence in the 500 blk of Madison St in the City of Watsonville. There officers recovered a .22 cal rifle and a sawed of shotgun with ammunition.

Murillo was taken into custody on the listed charges and transported to the Santa Cruz Co. Jail.
