CHP searching for more officers to help boost patrols
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is searching for people on the Central Coast to join their team.
Officials say with the legalization of marijuana, there is a greater need for more officers on California roadways.
Recruits will undergo “some of the best law enforcement training in the world during the 28-week live-in Academy in West Sacramento.” Cadet training is 135 training days long, approximately 1,310 hours of instruction in some 66 different subjects.
The CHP has long been recognized for its leadership in education and enforcement regarding alcohol and drug impaired driving. Drug impaired driving continues to be a complex issue and a public health concern because it puts not only the driver at risk, but also passengers and others who share the road. The CHP dedicates 52 hours of DUI training during the Academy.
Candidates must be a United States citizen, be between the ages of 20 and 35, possess a high school diploma or GED, no felony convictions and be able to pass an extensive background check.
For those interested in learning about the CHP hiring process, pay, benefits, the Academy and the many opportunities the CHP has to offer, there is a recruiting event April 14th, 2018 from 9am to noon at CSUMB, University Center/Ballroom Building 29, 4314 Sixth Ave Seaside CA 93955.
