Big Little Lies crew and stars seen on set in Seaside
Production on the second season of the HBO series Big Little Lies has started, and the stars are back on the Peninsula. Crews were out in full force in Seaside as filming got underway.
Big Little Lies saw success during award season, and soon after HBO decided to renew the show.
“Never thought we’d be back it was always intended, it was what we call a one-off…it was a limited series and that was the end of it. It became this water cooler show phenomenon,” said Gregory Alpert, Location Manager for Big Little Lies.
Neighbors in Seaside gathered around to watch the film production Tuesday many of them hoping to spot a star.
“AH they’re right outside the house and I walked up, and I think that’s Laura Derns. So I’m kind of excited…a little star struck,” said Aric Arzidon.
Unfortunately for this fan, most of the cast spotted on the set of Big Little Lies today appeared to be stand-ins, but that didn’t stop the ensuing excitement from those nearby watching the production.
“You know I was on my way home, found it on Facebook, and I live just down the street. So I thought I’d come and check it out,” said Lisa Moberg.
Those who weren’t searching the Internet for set location updates, said they just got lucky catching the filming today.
” I was out here, going to go out to breakfast with my friend Lindsay, and then we were like oh wow their filming over here in Seaside. Lets go stop by and check it out and I can’t believe how close we are right now,” said Rachel Crivello.
Production on season 2 started in March, and is still in the early stages. Film crews have been spotted at Lovers Point in Pacific Grove, and today near General Jim Moore Boulevard in Seaside.
“Oh it’s fantastic, I mean the entire Monterey Peninsula is great, welcomed us with open arms, it’s a great change from Los Angeles,” Gregory Alpert, Location Manager for Big Little Lies.
The full main cast of Big Little Lies is supposed to return for season two, and many of them have been spotted around Monterey; including Resse Witherspoon and Shaliene Woodley. In addition to last season’s cast, Oscar winner Meryl Streep is said to be coming on board for the new season. No premiere date has been announced yet, but HBO has confirmed it won’t be back until 2019.
