Girls escape fire at dance studio

Firefighters have finally finished putting water on what remains of the four alarm fire that broke out at a dance studio Monday night in New Jersey.

Video shows the remains of thebuilding which houses a car wash, an auto body shop, a health spa and a dance studio.

It was the escape of severalyoung girls from that dance studio that was captured on video and is nothing short of dramatic.

Fire officials said, the two girls that tried to break the window with their phones but couldn’t. So crews climbed up ladders to break the windows themselves.

Girls inside an Edgewater dance studio were trapped as the fire started, and bystanders and police officers jumped into action to save them.

“Miraculously there’s a ladder on the other side of the building. We look up and there are two girls pounding on the front window, trapped inside,” said Sgt. James Dalton.

More than 10 girls were inside the studio. All made it out and injuries were minor according to officials.

Sgt. Dalton said, “The normal entrance to the ballet studio was completely engulfed in flames.”

Firefighters were still working to keep the fire contained into the morning hours. The investigation is ongoing and no cause has been determined.
