Suspects throw loaded gun & drugs from truck in Felton
A suspect attempted to ditch a loaded gun and drugs during a pursuit in Felton.
According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to pull over a truck on Highway 9 near San Lorenzo Valley High School Wednesday night, but the driver didn’t stop.
Jason Shoemaker was behind the wheel and led deputies on a short “low speed” pursuit while his girlfriend, Kelsey Lemon started throwing items out of the truck.
“Lemon threw a loaded .25 caliber handgun and narcotics from the truck which were later recovered,” said Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s.
The car came to a stop in Ben Lomond where the two were arrested.
Shoemaker was arrested for possessing a loaded gun, being a felon in possession of a gun, destruction of evidence, DUI, and other charges.
Lemon was arrested for destruction of evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
