Teenagers arrested for crimes including robbery of elderly woman & home invasion

Two teenagers have been arrested for their believed involvement in a number of crimes.

On February 17th Monterey Police Officers responded to a report of a strong armed robbery at the Del Monte Shopping Center. The elderly victim said she was walking when she was approached from behind by the suspect who grabbed her purse. The suspect forcefully pulled the purse from the victim knocking her to the ground. She told officials the suspect was with another male and both left the area. They were described as two black males possibly in their teens or twenties. The woman later required medical attention as a result of the fall for moderate injuries.

On March 17th, Officers responded to a report of a home invasion robbery on Van Buren Street. The victims told officers male suspects entered their home and took property. When the victims objected, one of the suspects threatened them with a knife and poked one of the victims with the knife causing a minor injury. The other victim was then beat up by the suspects and received moderate injuries. The suspects left the area and were not initially located. Both victims selected to seek their own medical aid for their injuries. The suspects were described as two black males and a white male, all in their teens.

During the course of the investigation, Officers identified the suspects as 18-year-old Nikolos Swendseid of Monterey and a 16-year-old juvenile of Carmel. On March 18th, Monterey Police Officers served a search warrant at the residence of Swendseid, but Swenseid was not present at the time.

During the search, officers located items which had been reported stolen from the robbery at Del Monte Shopping Center on February 17th.

On March 20th, Monterey Police Officers served a search warrant in Carmel. Swenseid and the 16-year-old juvenile were found and arrested.

Swenseid was booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges of possession of stolen property in connection with the robbery at Del Monte Shopping Center and robbery in connection with the robbery on Van Buren Street. His bail was set at $150,000.

The juvenile was booked into the Monterey County Juvenile Hall on charges of robbery in connection with the robbery on Van Buren Street.
