Occupancy date of Old Monterey County Courthouse moved back

The old Monterey County Courthouse in Salinas has been under construction for ten months and we are learning that the move-in date is running behind schedule.

The original Monterey County Courthouse was built in the 1930’s, but has been empty for the past ten years. This is the first major renovation that’s been done on the building since it was built.
Originally the move in date for the DA’s office was May, but that has now been pushed back to August.

“We moved that back because of delivery times mainly for some design work around some steel projects. And waiting for the steel to be delivered. The historical aspects of renovating this building are key to us,” said Asst. County Administrative Officer Dewayne Woods.
