Seaside man sentenced for abusing his elderly mom
A Seaside man has been sentenced to two years in prison for abusing his 83-year-old mother.
According to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, 56-year-old Daniel Johnson was sentenced on Friday, March 16th for felony elder abuse.
On September 2, 2016, Seaside Police officers were called out to his mother’s home after she pressed the emergency button on a medical alert device she was wearing.
The button triggered a two-way communication where a dispatcher from the medical alert company could overhear the 83-year-old screaming for help and Johnson yelling at her.
The victim later told police that Johnson grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her so hard that it tore some of the articular fibers in her rotator cuff.
