Police in California arrest suspect in 1986 killings

Police in a Northern California city say they have solved the 1986 killings of two friends thanks to DNA evidence and that the suspect is already behind bars.

The Fremont Police Department announced Monday they arrested 57-year-old David Misch on suspicion of two counts of murder in the slayings of two young women whose nude bodies were dumped along a road.

The East Bay Times reports Misch was charged last week with two counts of murder in connection with the shooting and stabbing deaths of 18-year-old Michelle Xavier and 20-year-old Jennifer Duey.

The women had attended a birthday dinner and were last seen together later that evening at a convenience store.

Misch is serving a sentence of 18 years to life for a 1989 homicide in Alameda County.
