UC Berkeley lifts lockdown over threat; classes canceled

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — The University of California, Berkeley has issued an all-clear more than four hours after ordering a campus-wide lockdown Thursday because of threats made against people at the university. Officials say the person who made the threats has been located off-campus and the situation has been resolved. Campus police said earlier Thursday that they were looking for a person trying to hurt specific people on campus. They said there was no active shooter but had asked people to go indoors and stay away from doors and windows. A spokesperson for UC Berkeley says in-person classes were canceled for the day but that facilities that closed due to the emergency had reopened.
