Domestic violence call turns to SWAT standoff, husband & wife arrested

A SWAT team surrounded a King City residence over the weekend.

Two people barricaded themselves inside their home after police responded to a domestic disturbance. The whole incident lasted nearly three hours.

The home was on the 1300 block of Sussex Circle. A child called her aunt and said her parents were fighting. The child’s mother, Vanessa Reyes, was uncooperative with responding to police. A Monterey County Sheriff’s SWAT unit was called in. Reyes exited the house with the child before SWAT arrived. She told officers no one else was in the home.

But after calls from SWAT, Pablo Reyes also left the house. Like Vanessa, he was hostile, arguing with law enforcement.

The mother had a cut on her face from the fight. Both adults were booked on Resisting, Delaying or Obstructing charges along with Child Endangerment.
