Two Salinas children flown to Bay Area hospital after being struck by car

Two children have been flown to a Bay Area hospital after being struck by a car in Salinas early Thursday morning.

According to Salinas Police, a boy and girl were on their way to school when a car hit them in a crosswalk on Garner Avenue and Sanborn Road.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. The two children involved are under the age of 10.

A Salinas Police Sgt. said they believe the sun was a factor because they see a lot of accidents in that area where drivers have been blinded.

The driver cooperated with police and stayed at the scene. Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.

Salinas Police said the kids suffered non-life threatening injuries.
