Santa Cruz shop burglarized, thousands of dollars worth of items recovered
A burglar attempting to steal thousands of dollars worth of items from a store in Santa Cruz has been arrested.
Around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an alarm in the 200 block of River Street at a business called, Down Works.
When officers arrived they found 29-year-old Troy Witzke with items stolen from inside the business.
“A First Alarm guard witnessed the man inside the business, throwing items out of the building window,” said SCPD.
Witzke was arrested for commercial burglary and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail. The stolen property recovered totaled $5,929 from store inventory.
