One person dead in crash on Elkhorn Road

One person is dead following a solo-vehicle crash west of Las Lomas early Saturday morning.

California Highway Patrol says the unidentified 28-year-old was driving Northbound on Elkhorn Road, just North of Garin Road, when the vehicle continued straight instead of completing the left curve in the roadway.

The white two-door Honda Civic collided with a dirt drainage canal, and landed on its roof in a partially filled draining canal. The driver died from his injuries at the scene. His identity will be released through the Monterey Coroner’s officer upon notification of the next of kin.

This crash is still under investigation, and witnesses are urged to contact the Monterey CHP office.
