Man suffers major head injury after Salinas hit-and-run
A man remains in critical condition after being struck by a car in Salinas Monday morning.
A driver witnessed several cars swerve around an object in the road and as the driver got closer he saw it was a person.
Salinas Police arrived at W Laurel Drive and Legion around 6:38 a.m. and found the adult male with major head injuries. Officers said it looked like the victim had been hit by a car.
The victim did not have any identification on him and was taken to a local hospital.
“A witness has come forward who described the suspect vehicle as a light colored sports utility vehicle or van, unknown make or model,” said Commander Mike Groves.
The suspect was driving eastbound on E. Laurel Drive when it struck the pedestrian and sped away.
The victim’s fingerprints have been submitted for possible ID.
