National health survey in Monterey County
Monterey County has recently been selected to participate in a survey that officials say greatly influences Americans’ health.
The national health and nutrition examination survey happens once a year in the U.S. with 15 counties pulled at random to participate.
For the first time in the survey’s 55-year history, Monterey County residents will be selected at random to participate and the company travels to each county with their mobile examination center.
The survey provides data on public health problems from a national perspective, including issues like obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease
Jenni Echols, NHANES’ Study Manager says, “There’s lots of benefits for individuals and the country as a whole for people to agree to participate.”, “Everyone’s information gets pulled together and then health anisticians with analyze that data to see if we can measure emerging trends in Americans health.”
If you are selected for the survey, NHANES wants you to know that all information collected is kept confidential and not shared with other government departments.
