Coroner ID’s man killed in Laureles Grade crash

UPDATE: 1/5/2018 12:37 p.m. The Monterey County Sheriff-Coroner has identified the victim of a fatal December crash as 25-year-old Johnny Osornio of Carmel Valley.

The crash took place just before 8 a.m. on December 30 when a driver reported that a car was flipped over down an embankment on Laureles Grade north of Baronet Road off Highway 68.

Fire personnel and California Highway Patrol responded, determined it was a solo car crash and that Osornio died at the scene.

For reasons unknown, the driver drove the 2017 Subaru off of the roadway, and hit a tree. He died from his injuries sometime early Saturday morning, CHP said.

The cause of death has not been determined.
