Monterey County puppy quickly going viral after shopping in Target
A Monterey County Corgi/Mini Aussie mix named Zira is going viral for simply being cute while shopping at a local Target.
The three month old pup smiled during her latest trip to the store and her owner Jesse shared the photo captioned, “MY DOG WENT TO TARGET AND LOOK HOW HAPPY SHE IS.”
Like many millennial dog parents, Zira the corgi mix’s owners made her an Instagram before she was even home.
“We always wanted to gain a following. We got about 2,000 followers, but we had no idea it would blow up like this. It was a spontaneous trip and we took her. She was standing up at the end of the cart with a smile on her face,” said Kasey Donovan.
“Within the first two minutes it was like 400 likes, I was like Oh my gosh what is happening. At a point I just had to shut my phone off, because it was becoming too much. Everyone was loving her,” said Jesse Tober.
The photo has gone viral. From Instagram and Facebook to major networks. People cant get enough of the Corgi who clearly loves to shop.
But like all fame, you take the good with the bad. People were upset about Zira being in Target, which only allows service dogs. Jesse and Kasey have since issued an apology.
“We’ve just been raising awareness from then on. About pets not going into service dog only places and to stick with marshals and pet smart and whatever else is pet friendly,” said Tober.
Since posting the photo on Wednesday, the tweet has been re-tweeted 137,000 times and has over 522,000 likes. And Zira’s Facebook page is quickly garnering likes as well.
