Man who led law enforcement on two pursuits in custody
A man who led law enforcement on two separate pursuits is now in custody.
Daria Mahdavi, 38, was arrested on Dec. 30 in a public bathroom on Ocean View Boulevard in Pacific Grove. Deputies say he led authorities on two separate chases within the last week.
It started on Dec. 29 when Mahdavi was accused of throwing rocks at one of the buildings at Mission Ranch in Carmel. He left before deputies could arrive. He was later found in the Crossroads Shopping Area and refused to comply with deputies. He then led them on a chase through Carmel, Monterey and Pacific Grove before authorities called it off due because of public safety. During the chase, he allegedly hit several parked cars with his 2002 Toyota Camry.
On Dec. 30, Carmel police officers saw him driving on the highway. Deputies joined the pursuit to Pacific Grove but it was later called off. An hour later, Daria was found in a bathroom.
According to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Website, he’s facing a number of charges including evading peace officers, reckless driving and hit and run.
