Crowds flock to Old Fisherman’s Wharf despite thwarted terror plot in San Francisco
The thwarted terror plot in San Francisco has not slowed down crowds from enjoying the Old Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey.
Employees say security does patrol the area along with law enforcement. KION spoke with some people who work on the wharf along with visitors who say they won’t let the incident stop them from enjoying their time on the Central Coast.
“It didn’t make any difference except for that it is slow season,” said Rana Ismail who works on the wharf.
“I wouldn’t let that stop me from visiting the wharf,” said visitor Karla Koehn.
“I don’t think it changes anything in how I live or think day to day,” said Monterey resident Seamas Murphy.
A spokesperson for the Fisherman’s Wharf Association said “we have full confidence in our local law enforcement and military installations. We know that they are fully aware of the attempt in San Francisco and are prepared to secure our wharf.”
