Still have Christmas shopping to do? You’re not alone..
While some people finished shopping for presents weeks ago, others are still hunting for those perfect gifts.
With Christmas just two days away family members were out in Capitola Saturday making sure they had something to put under the tree.
The cool, but sunny day made for a good time to be outside, but some shop owners say the crowds have gotten thinner this year. Devon Salter, owner of Capitola Reef says he thinks more people are opting to shop online. “It’s actually a little bit slower this year I think it’s just with the internet shopping getting more popular and popular and it’s just so easy for people to shop online and get their packages delivered to their house,” says Salter.
That was the case with one family visiting from Portland. The Palumbo family tells KION they finished their shopping almost a month ago by getting everything online. “We shopped all online. Amazon, for the mom that has to buy for the kids you couldn’t ask for anything better,” says Elizabeth Palumbo.
Aptos resident Charlie Samm says while shopping online can be more convenient and less expensive he still likes shopping local, “maybe the prices are a little bit better, but ya I like doing it local, because then for instance, honey {Samm’s wife} if you don’t like this, I have a receipt and you can go back a pick out your own.”
