Salinas: Probation check leads to arrest of three suspects with drugs and loaded guns
A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of three suspects after Salinas Police found thousands of dollars worth of cash, loaded guns and drugs.
According to Salinas Police, on Sunday around 4:09 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Officers discovered the driver, 26-year-old Raymond Raygoza was on probation so they went to do a probation compliance search of his home. During the search 18-year-old Noah Backus was caught leaving through the front door in an attempt to get away. A 16-year-old boy ran out the back door but was caught and detained.
Both Backus and the juvenile were wearing backpacks. Backus was searched and 1/4 pound of marijuana was found inside his bag. Officers found a loaded Glock .40-caliber semi-auto pistol, a Colt .38-caliber revolver on his ankle, 10 bindles of cocaine, 4 bindles of methamphetamine and several ounces of marijuana in the juveniles backpack.
Inside Raygoza’s home officers found 1.7 pounds of methamphetamine, 9 pounds of marijuana and $2500 in cash.
Raygoza and Backus were booked into Monterey County Jail for several felonies, including Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Distribute and several weapons charges. The juvenile was booked into the Monterey County Juvenile Hall for the same charges.
