Terminated car dealership employee arrested for stealing keys and embezzlement

One person is behind bars after stealing from a car dealership they were recently fired from.

A Morgan Hill Police Officer stopped a vehicle, which appeared to be a refurbished older San Jose police car. The stop resulted in an arrest for embezzlement and possession of stolen property when the officer found a number of keys tucked inside the trunk.

Recognizing similar valet tags on some of the keys, the officer started contacting dealerships throughout the county until he located the victim.

The dealership told officers the keys were indeed stolen and the suspect was a recently terminated employee.

Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact the department at 408-779-2101 and reference case #17-3141.
