Caltrans prepares for rainy season along Highway 101

Drivers can expect delays on Highway 101 near Prunedale. Crews will be sweeping a section of the highway to clear debris from storm drains in preparation of the rainy season. It will be happening on US Highway 101 from Sala Road to San Miguel Canyon Road. Motorists will encounter alternating moving closures in both directions, with the right lane closed.

“By performing this sweeping it prevents debris from getting into nearby drainage channels and culverts, it also allows for water not to pool on the highway,” said Caltrans Information Officer, Jim Shivers.

The sweeping operation will be going on from 9:00 a.m. until 2 p.m. through Thursday. The CHP will be out there, so take it slow as you pass them on the highway.

Delays should not exceed 20 minutes.
