At least one dead after crash near Prunedale

UPDATE: 10/26/2017 10:30 a.m. One person has died after a two car accident in Monterey County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a call came in for a crash on San Juan Road near Allison Street in the Prunedale area around 5:45 a.m. Thursday.

CHP said two sedans were involved. One of the cars caught fire, and witnesses heard someone yelling for a fire extinguisher. One person died at the scene, and the other was flown to Natividad Medical Center.

All lanes were closed for hours and reopened at 10 a.m.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
