Officials responding to structure fire in Castroville

Multiple resources have been deployed to help extinguish a fire that began Monday afternoon.

Officials tell us the fire began in an attached garage on Speegle Street. The garage is connected to an apartment complex.

Several occupants were trapped upon the arrival of firefighters and all were rescued, including one dog.

As of now, 4-6 vehicles, the garage and one apartment unit have been destroyed.

PG & E is also on scene, as power lines are in the immediate area.

Officials with the North Monterey County Unified School District tell us as a precaution, students at Castroville Elementary and Middle School were required to stay inside until parents were able to pick them up.
