Some Bear Fire evacuations lifted Thursday

Some of the residents evacuated during the Bear Fire can return home.

Cal Fire and Santa Cruz County officials told reporters Thursday morning that evacuation orders for some – but not all – areas are being lifted according the following schedule:

8:00 a.m. — Residents in the Las Cumbres and Skyline Blvd. areas can begin to return home.

12:00 noon — Residents living south of Bear Creek Rd. can return. These areas include Hidden Springs Lane, Moon Rise Road, Mustang Mesa, and Bear Creek Way.

Road Reopens — Bear Creek Road between Hawk Ridge and Highway 35 will reopen to residents only at 12 noon.

Evacuation orders remain — Bear Creek Canyon Road, Deer Creek Road, Rons Road, Dons Road, and tributary streets in the affected fire areas remain under evacuation orders.
