Large Humpback whale washes ashore in Pebble Beach

The large body of dead Humpback whale washed ashore near Bird Rock in Pebble Beach this weekend, creating quite a sight for a steady stream of beach-goers.

The whale appears to have died from natural causes because there was no fishing gear or netting on it, according to Marine Biologist Nancy Black.

Black said the whale could have been an older Humpback that got sick and died during its migration. However, there is still some testing that needs to be done before experts can know the official cause of death.
