SFO flights slated for new path over Central Coast
Progress is being made on a controversial flight path over Santa Cruz County into San Francisco.
After months of community input, a Federal Aviation Administration commission voted to create a new arrival route over the previously used Big Sur flight track, over Santa Cruz and the San Lorenzo Valley.
The change could come within the next two years, after many complaints and concerns from residents under the current path over Capitola, Soquel and Scotts Valley.
According to a new report this month, the recommendation also comes with a quieter decent plan for incoming aircraft.
Now the FAA will begin an environmental and safety review of the route before making a final decision.
