Salinas: A bicyclist hit by a car in May has died
Charles Lewis, the bicyclist who was hit by a car pulling out of the Valero Gas Station back in May, died last Friday due to the injuries he sustained in the accident. He was 60 years old.
Lewis was hit by a car pulling out of the Valero Gas Station, located just north of the intersection of North Main St. and Casentini St., on May 17.
Upon arriving at the hospital, it was discovered that Lewis had severe head and spine injuries. He was placed in the Intensive Care Unit.
Lewis died on July 20, two months after the collision. He was still in Intensive Care.
Lewis’ death is the seventh fatal collision in Salinas this year and the first to involve a bicyclist.
