A convicted felon is back behind bars after Watsonville police found him with loaded revolver with its serial number defaced.
Jesus Melgoza, 36, of Watsonville was arrested after police conducted a probation search at a room at the National 9 Motel.
Police say Melgoza tried unsuccessfully to conceal the gun from officers when they entered the room.
He was booked into the Santa Cruz County jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number.
