King City police say they are investigating a gang related shooting that happened Tuesday evening.

According to a press release, police responded to a call of a gunshot victim in the 500 block of Van Nort Street.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a grey SUV.

An officer on his way to the crime scene spotted a vehicle with the same description parked in an alleyway behind the 600 block of Oates Avenue.

The officer then performed a high risk traffic stop and detained all four passengers in the SUV.

Police searched the alleyway where the vehicle had been parked and found three semi-automatic handguns in shrubbery where, it appeared, they had been thrown.

The passengers identified as Gustavo Garcia,21, Herber Veronica, 19, Francisco Martinez, 18, and Marco Velasquez, 18, were arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail.

Officers continue to investigate the shooting and ask anyone with information regarding the incident contact the King City Police Department.
