Watsonville: Cyclist in critical condition after getting hit by car
The Watsonville Police Department responded to a collision between a motorist and a cyclist on Lee Road early this Tuesday.
The 45-year-old cyclist was riding his bicycle on Lee Road around 5 a.m. when a 30-year-old motorist, who was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe, hit the cyclist from behind.
Medics treated the cyclist for injuries at the scene. He was then air lifted to a Bay Area trauma center.
As of 11:30 a.m., the cyclist is in critical condition and has been transferred to the intensive care unit.
The collision is under investigation. Authorities suspect that neither alcohol nor drugs were involved.
