Drug arrest made near King City High School

King City police arrested one man Sunday for possession of illegal narcotics and a loaded firearm.

Officers say they received an anonymous tip that a person was selling drugs in the city’s 700 block of Broadway.

When officers arrived they located the renter of the room, 34-year-old Lorenzo Velasquez, and were given permission to conduct a search.

During the search, police found 2.4 ounces of methamphetamine and 16 ounces of marijuana all individually packaged for sale. They also found a loaded rifle and cash.

The location of the home is within 1,000 feet of King City High School.

Velasquez was arrested without incident and booked into the Monterey County Jail on several narcotics related charges.
