One dead, six injured in head on car crash in Salinas
UPDATE JULY, 16 at 2:30 P.M.: The California Highway Patrol has identified the person killed in a head-on collision on U.S. 101 and Spence Road as a 54-year old Salinas man. Officials said he was a passenger of a Honda car, along with four others.
The CHP said for a reason not yet know, the driver of the Honda made an unsafe turn, lost control of the car and crashed head-on with a Ford Mustang.
All six injured people were taken to Natividad with minor to major injuries.
The driver and passengers of the Honda are all from Salinas. The driver and passenger in the Mustang are both from Australia.
Officials say this deadly car crash is still under investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY: Officials are investigating a fatal car crash on Highway 101 near Spence Road in Salinas that killed one and injured six. The California Highway Patrol says around six pm, a Honda Civic traveling southbound swerved onto the northbound side and collided head on with a Ford Mustang. CHP says they do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.
