NEW YORK (AP) — Rachel Maddow has told viewers that she’s taking a hiatus from her weeknight MSNBC show until April. Maddow says she’ll be working on a new podcast for NBC Universal, although she’s expected to appear on the network for big news events, like President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. She also says a movie is being made of her first podcast, “Bag Man,” about former Vice President Spiro Agnew, with Ben Stiller directing and Lorne Michaels producing. Maddow’s absence could be a glimpse into the network’s future. It has been widely reported that a new contract will give her the flexibility to step back from regularly appearing on television.
