Workers injured at construction site collapse in Oakland

Nine workers were injured Friday morning when a building under construction in Oakland partially collapsed.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. on 3000 block of Broadway at Hawthorne Ave. and helicopter video showed dozens of rescue workers and at least five ambulances at the scene of the collapse near downtown Oakland.

At least two of the injured were being transported to the hospital by ambulance. Three workers were being tended to by medical personnel. Some of the injured were taken to Summit Hospital, which is located across the street from the construction site.
