Emergency repairs underway on East Cliff Drive

Expect traffic and parking impacts during construction along East Cliff Drive near Alhambra Avenue.

City of Santa Cruz Public Works Department has started an emergency repair project.

Crews will relocate 150 feet of failing handrail, sidewalk and sewer line from the coastal bluff, according to a press release issued today. A damaged concrete sack will also be removed.

Repairs are needed as a result of ongoing coastal erosion combined with damage caused by winter storms, according to Public Works.

The approximately $300,000 project is going forward with a Coastal Permit.

The City of Santa Cruz is inviting the public for a construction tour of the project in celebration of National Public Works Week on Monday, May 22nd from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.
