A homeless man in Monterey County has been found guilty of two counts of committing lewd acts on a child.

The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office said Kyle Gray, 33, approached a 15 year old girl at Starbucks in downtown Monterey in December. He asked her age, then tried to kiss and hug her. When he did this, he touched her chest area. She broke away from him and he left.

Gray later returned and saw the victim. Authorities say he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards his groin. She was able to get away again and reported the incidents to a security guard.

Prosecutors said during trial, the victim said she wasn’t sure she would report the incident but did because she didn’t want it to happen to anyone else.

A jury found Gray guilty this week. When he is sentenced on April 6, he faces a maximum of three years and eight months in prison.
