Traffic changes during Salinas year-long construction project
Lane closures and parking limit changes are expected to impact traffic on two streets in Salinas City Center during a year-long Monterey County construction project.
According to county officials, construction and renovation started Monday on the East/West Wing Building at the corner of Alisal and Church Streets.
While the work is being done, the county said these adjustments will be made:
-One traffic lane, parallel parking spaces, and the sidewalk along W. Alisal Street immediately in front of the East/West Wing Building Renovation project will be closed
-The south bound lane of Church Street between Alisal and Howard will be closed
-2-hour parking on Church and Lincoln (between W. Alisal and Howard) will be changed to 20-minutes to accommodate the Post Office.
-The bus stop on the corner of Alisal and Church Streets will be closed
-The blinking light cross-walk will no longer be available.
The county wants to remind those headed to the Government Center should follow all signs due to the closures and cooperate with any directions given by construction workers.
Parking is also available at the train station on Market St. and shuttles make regular trips to the county building, officials said.
