Santa Cruz hit-and-run victim dies, police say
UPDATE 5/8/17 2:16 p.m.: A Bonny Doon woman, who was the victim of a hit and run crash on May 1 in Santa Cruz, has died, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department.
Police said Elizabeth Green, 62, was sent to the hospital with major injuries and was in critical condition.
UPDATE 5/3/17 11:27 a.m.: Santa Cruz police have identified a woman who was the victim of a hit and run crash on West Cliff Dr. Monday.
Investigators said Elizabeth Green, 62, of Bonny Doon, is still in the hospital in critical condition with major injuries.
Police said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
PREVIOUS STORY: A Bonny Doon woman is in critical condition after a hit and run incident on West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz Monday night.
Police said a 62-year-old woman was walking her dog around 8:36 p.m. when she was hit by a car and the driver left the scene without stopping to help.
Witnesses described the car to police and it was spotted minutes later near the roundabout on Beach Street.
Police said an officer stopped the car on the 400 block of Front Street and arrested the driver, Lorenzo Arteaga, 63, of San Jose.
The victim was flown to a Bay Area trauma center where she remains in critical condition. Her identity has not yet been released.
