Man arrested for attacking woman with gasoline in Monterey

A Salinas man is behind bars accused of spraying a woman with gasoline after a road rage incident in Monterey.

According to police, 67-year-old Brian McEldowney assaulted the woman at a gas station on North Fremont around 5:33 p.m. Tuesday.

The man then left before officers arrived.

McEldowney was arrested the next day. He is facing several charges including assault with a chemical agent, false imprisonment, child endangerment and probation violation. His bail was set at $50,000.
