Widespread San Ardo oil fields fire contained

A faulty electrical connection is believed to be the cause of a vegetation fire Wednesday, spanning two to three acres in size in the San Ardo oil fields, near the community of San Ardo in Monterey County.

Cal Fire officials who contained the fire remind the public of the importance of maintaining a minimum of 100 feet defensible space around structures. They also suggested practicing exit drills in the home.
