UCSC students take over Kerr Hall, staff forced to leave

More than 100 students have taken over Kerr Hall at U.C. Santa Cruz on Tuesday, as students demand changes from campus leaders, according to Director News and Media Relations Scott Hernandez-Jason.

Staff were forced to leave the building after students packed the building earlier in the day, Hernendez-Jason said.

According to student Kadijah Means’ Twitter feed (@SpecialKay00), the Afrikan/Black Student Alliance issued a reclamation statement Tuesday, with four demands regarding housing concerns.

Hernandez-Jason said the last time any students took over an entire building on campus was Fall 2015. He said students have remained peaceful during this demonstration.
